Have you heard of the new trend sweeping the East Coast?! It’s called “Dress Up Friday,” and it was inspired by the many women who not only have busy workdays but also busy night lives as well, and don’t have time to change their outfit before the night festivities start! Only swapping their workday flats for some trendy boots or heels and a clutch, these women give a whole new meaning to getting ready on the fly! What do you all think of starting this trend on the West Coast?

This past Saturday night was Alpha Phi’s, a sorority at the University of San Diego, Red Dress Gala, which is their annual philanthropic event to raise awareness and support for women’s cardiac care. Fresh Karat was fortunate enough to be able to donate some of our headwraps to this amazing cause, and we love the way our gift basket turned out!

The Making Strides San Diego fundraiser walk on Sunday was amazing! The walk took place in Balboa Park in San Diego and for anyone who has never been, we suggest you check it out. Balboa Park is a beautiful place, with museums, Japanese gardens, an art gallery, and cultural centers, it will keep anyone occupied for hours. Sadly, it rained for the entire walk, but everyone was in such great spirits that it didn't seem to matter. Making Strides ended up raising over $900,000 for breast cancer research, which is insane! Fresh Karat is glad we could be a part of such a great experience and our "Karats for the Cure" headwraps were a huge success! October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Fresh Karat is Pretty in Pink!  

In effort to raise awareness to this disease which is responsible for nearly 40,000 deaths in 2010 alone, Fresh Karat has teamed up with the American Cancer Society for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in San Diego, California on October 17th.  Our team, Karats for the Cure, will be donating 15% of all retail sales from Fresh Karat's Karats for the Cure Pink Ribbon headbands, along with donations collected from our team members, friends and families.  

We invite you to join our team if you are in the San Diego area!  The first 10 people to join our team will receive a free Karats for the Cure headband and tank top!  The first 30 people to join our team will receive a free Karats for the Cure tank top. Spots are filling up quickly, so be sure to sign up ASAP!  

If you are unable to join us for the walk, we ask that you to please make a donation to this very important cause.  Every single penny counts!  You may donate directly on our Karats for the Cure team page or by purchasing a Karats for the Cure headband (15% of the sale goes directly to our team).
